Pavleas Avocats is seeking a senior lawyer in Information Technology, Intellectual Property and Data Privacy Laws. The position is based in Paris, France with hybrid work arrangements, optional. We offer a collaboration contract for an interesting and challenging position in a dynamic and growing environment with international exposure. Competitive salary based on skills and experience.
The candidate will assist in drafting and negotiating complex technology contracts for clients in Europe, US and Asia. Other missions include advising in data privacy matters and being involved in our mergers & acquisitions practice. We are looking for a candidate with the experience to supervise the work of junior attorneys and peer-mentor in a team-basedenvironment.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Draft and negotiate agreements for clients; assist clients in managing the overall
contractual process. Type of agreements include:
• In-bound and out-bound technology license agreements (e.g. software/IP license,
software as a service, infrastructure as a service, IP core license)
• In-bound and out-bound commercial agreements (e.g. supply/manufacturing, sales
and purchasing, reseller, outsourcing)
• Data processing agreements
• Joint development/technology collaboration/innovation agreements
• Strategic alliances
• In-bound and out-bound patent license agreements, patent pool licenses, IP policies of standard setting organizations
2. Provide legal advice specializing in the areas of expertise of Pavleas Avocats, including:
• Compliance with French and EU data privacy laws
• Compliance with French and EU legislation relating to obligations and liability of online platforms
• Cybersecurity policies and incidents
• Intellectual property issues related to technology, including artificial intelligence
3. Advise as IP counsel in merger and acquisition transactions
4. Engage in continuous quality improvement, including business processes
5. Assist in updating or designing legal templates
6. Advise in general matters and special projects
Qualifications
• Strong contract drafting skills
• Demonstrate expertise in intellectual property law and associated best practices
• Ability to effectively work with internal and geographically dispersed business clients
and colleagues at various levels of management
• Ability to effectively negotiate in a collaborative manner with geographically dispersed counterparties
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal issues and willingness to
learn new subject matter
• Positive attitude and willingness to take on any job, big or small
Professional credentials, including:
• Member of a French bar
• Minimum 7 years of relevant legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or as an inhouse attorney
• Legal education in intellectual property, information technology, data privacy and
contract law
• Experience negotiating commercial contracts and technology license agreements
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Full proficiency in English and French
• Strong legal analysis skills with the ability to integrate legal advice and business
knowledge, and the ability to provide balanced advice regarding risks and benefits
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team environment
• Strong interpersonal skills and resourcefulness
• Excellent strategic, organizational, presentation, and counselling skills, with the ability to follow through on numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure
• Keen to actively contribute to the growth of our firm
Preferred Skills/Requirements:
• Law and/or business degree from a UK/US school is desirable
• Member of a US/English bar is highly valued
• Teaching experience is a plus
